Who we are

Gold Telegraph Network operates goldtelegraph.com and the Gold Telegraph newsletter brands. We are a Canadian publication headquartered in Ontario, and we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for readers in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).

Information we collect

We collect only what the site needs to operate and improve: (1) newsletter signups: the email address you provide through our subscription forms, which is stored with our email provider Mailchimp and, where you subscribe through Substack, with Substack Inc.; (2) analytics: page views, referring links, device type and reading behaviour, collected through PostHog. Analytics run without cookies or identifiers until you accept our analytics cookie notice, and you may decline at any time; (3) limited technical data (IP address, browser) that PostHog processes for fraud and reliability reasons.

Cookies

We use a single analytics consent cookie to remember your choice on the analytics notice. PostHog analytics cookies (including session recording, which records how readers move through the site) load only after you click Accept. No advertising cookies are used on this site.

How we use information

Email addresses are used solely to deliver the newsletters you requested and to communicate about them. Analytics are used in aggregate to understand what readers find valuable, to improve the site, and to keep the newsletter relevant. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers named above (Mailchimp, Substack, PostHog) who process it on our behalf.

Your rights (including Quebec Law 25)

You may unsubscribe from any newsletter at any time using the link in every email. You may also ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw consent to analytics cookies, by contacting us at the address below. Under Law 25, Quebec residents have the right to request access to and correction of their personal information, and to withdraw consent, subject to applicable exceptions. We respond to all such requests within 30 days.

Retention and security

Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained for up to 13 months. Access to subscriber data is restricted to the people and providers who need it to operate the publication, and all data is encrypted in transit.

Contact

For any privacy request, contact us through the contact page or by email, and we will respond within 30 days.
